As a result of the unanimous and enthusiastic recommendation of both the Pastoral Search Committee and the Pulpit Committee, we have narrowed our search for a senior pastor to a single candidate. His name is David Stephenson. David’s wife's name is Kelly, and they have 3 boys: Graham (14), Hudson (12), and Deacon (9). David is 47 years old and grew up in East Tennessee as the son of a PCA church planter, graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1999 and Reformed Theological Seminary in 2005.

David is currently the Executive Pastor at NewCity Presbyterian Church in Tysons Corner, Virginia. Previously, David served as Executive Pastor and then as the active Pastor at McLean Presbyterian Church in McLean, Virginia (2013-2021). You can find 97 sermons from David on McLean Presbyterian’s website.

Besides doing your own research, don’t hesitate to call one of the members of the PSC or the Session for additional information. They would be excited to speak with you about David. Also, on the weekend of May 17-19, you’ll have a chance to meet David and his family for yourselves. We will have a church-wide dinner on Friday night, May 17 at 6 pm. David will be there to meet you and to speak about his call to ministry and interest in CPC. On Sunday, May 19, David will preach during the morning worship service. Following the service, we will call a congregational meeting to vote regarding David’s call to CPC.

This Sunday’s bulletin will include more information about David, the Friday night dinner, and the congregational meeting. I want to encourage you to do your homework! Listen to sermons. Call members of the PSC or Session. Speak to one of our pastors. Come to the dinner on Friday and then worship with us on Sunday. And pray. Pray that the Lord will give us a spirit of unity as we seek a man to lead us. Pray that the Lord will either remove all obstacles or shut the door - making His will clear to us.

In closing, I can’t emphasize enough the hard work done by the members of the PSC. They worked for months, sorting through dozens of resumes and listening to hundreds of sermons. They interviewed over a dozen candidates. They have sacrificed their time for our Lord and our church family, and their service is greatly appreciated.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions,
Ken Henry, Chairman of the Pulpit Committee
