Passage: Mark 5:21-43

Preacher: Travis Hutchinson

Series: Meetings with Jesus

Category: Sunday Morning

Detail:

Sermon Intro: The twin stories of the bleeding woman and Jairus's daughter are given to us in three of the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Mark, the shortest of the Gospels, has the fullest account of this episode. Ancient Church tradition and evidence inside the Gospel itself tell us that Mark's Gospel was written by Mark, who got much of his information from the Apostle Peter. It makes sense that the vivid details of these events would be burned into Peter's heart and mind, as he was present for every moment of what happened – even the parts many didn't see. What happened with Jesus and these two women reveals important truths about Jesus, his divinity, mission, and character. This passage speaks to the most important question one can ask: Who is Jesus?

  1. Jesus the God-man
  2. Love that Adopts and Slays Shame
  3. Personal Love that Gives Life
